[ and hardly even a moment later... ] Martin!

[ there might be a familiar girl decked out in her magical girl costume atop his roof, smiling brightly before leaping down from her perch with her arms held out to pull him into a hug before her feet have even touched the ground.

for once, she's grateful for all the snow on the ground to help cushion any falls that might come about from this move. ]

Yah–!! [he gets a second to glance up and see pinks and whites and bows descending upon him, giving him a good scare. to keep from toppling over outright, Martin has to spin in that little space his stomping around in the snow made earlier, landing with his back against the door with a Whuff!

sputtering a little (there's hair in his face, after all):] Ma-Madoka! You came out of nowhere! [but he's grinning anyway.] You didn't say to, to look up...

Ehehe, sorry. [ she grins, leaning away from the hug a little in order to talk. ] But I wanted to get to you as fast as I could! So, I might have taken a few shortcuts...

[ which included jumping on a lot of rooftops. ]

I saw your letter, you know.

[color drains out of his face at the mention.] ...Oh. [that. gulp.] Oh, that. [his mouth twitches.] I'm glad, I...I was kind of in a rush. I thought, maybe, I didn't leave it in a safe spot. From the snow, or...

Don't worry, it was fine but you know- I was... I was really happy to read it and I knew right away that I had let you know how I felt. So, I apologize if this doesn't make a lot of sense...

[ smiling, a flash of red lights up madoka's cheeks as she glances away. ]

It's the same for me. I've loved every single moment we've spent together and every day I've been so grateful I was able to come to this world and meet you. You've been there for me whenever I needed you- as a friend, as a shoulder to cry on or just someone to goof around with! You ever saved my life.

[ Madoka steps back away from the hug and reaches out to take his hands instead, squeezing them and smiling brightly as she speaks. ] I love you, Martin. I have for a long time and no matter what happens in the future, even if we're separated... I'll always love you.

[he finds it very hard to keep his eyes fixed on any one point as he listens and absorbs all this, his head tilting down and hiding a good portion of his face in the scarf again.

his eyes are big, blinking often, darting from a corner of her face, some hair caught on the ribbon choker that pulls free when she tilts her head, down to her hands as she moves back and finds his there, too, no longer so ice-cold as they were during the wait. they quake a little after his understanding gets better.

he draws in a breath and holds it, feeling like his chest is going to keep expanding without him, and looks up when he hears it very certainly again in his head: I'll always love you.]

M-me, too! [his eyelid twitches, hearing how loud his voice got just then. his head ducks.] I mean–! That...That I meant what I said! That no matter what... [squeezing her hands in turn, tugging them.] That even if it's not here...So, please don't forget! And I won't, either. [another gulp.] But I, I really...I really want to keep being with you here. For as long as I can! Because I'm happy...and I want you to be happy, too!

[grinning big now, a little panic in his laugh:] I'm really happy, is what I mean...

[ her own laugh is shy and bashful but she smiles, feeling warm despite the chill around them. ] Don't worry, I'm really happy too!

[ although true, madoka worries it really doesn't give the full scope of her feeling but she feels that might take even longer to explain. ] And for as long as I can, I want to stay here with too but as long as I keep these feelings for you in my heart... I won't ever forget about you. So no matter where we might end up, you'll always have a place in my heart and I won't let go of those memories go so easily.

[processing that is a little quicker than usual, and the relief in understanding it is apparent from how his grip slacks and how his twitchy smile tugs into grin.

she gets it, he's convinced, and that's a first. he has a lot of people who care about him, but that doesn't say too much for who really understands what he means when he tries to explain. it's usually painful, half-finished work. this time, though, he's certain.

he tugs her hands again – more of a yank, letting them go in the process – and pulling her into a tight hug, eyes squeezed shut against the tickle of her hair. to him, it feels like the momentum of his own heart is going to make him burst, that it's the only real sound around, and it feels twice that when he has her closer.]

[ for a moment, madoka is confused as she's tugged forward but relaxes into the hug quickly enough. she's a wild mess of emotions but mostly she thinks it'll be absolutely impossible for her to stop smiling.

in a flash of color, she returns to her normal clothes and wraps her own arms around martin with a light-hearted giggle. everything has been such a whirlwind but she finally realizes that everything right...

everything in this very moment just felt so very right. ]

I'm so glad I was able to go to this world. [ she laughs again, eyes closed and smiling brightly. ] I'm glad I was able to fall in love with you.

[his laugh is muffled into her shoulder, and he braces against the sudden swirl from hot to cold that her magic causes, squeezing a little tighter until she speaks. her voice is a tickle to his ear, and her words are a warmth that courses through him quicker than the chilly air can.

he has to let go eventually, of course, but not before he's struck with the memory of something Sayaka mentioned before. it fills him with a fresh bit of fear, but it's nothing that can overtake; it just adds to the thrill of being there in the moment.]

Madoka– [halting, holding a breath for a beat.] Do you think– Could I kiss you? [there's just a touch of worry in his smile.] I mean, I heard that...it was nice.

[not that he knew much of anything about it; it's all second- and third-hand information. still...]

Huh? [ answer of the century, right there but madoka simply can't help it. she really has to wonder if she heard him right and once the question repeats itself a few (hundred) times, that bright flash of red returns her face with a vengeance.

when her voice finally returns, her voice almost comes out in a shout. ]

Y-yeah, I mean... ! [ her head drips down and she laughs, shaking away her fears and glancing up with a smile. ] I'd really like that.

[her initial reactions made him wonder and worry...was that not the right thing to do? he was sure Sayaka hadn't just said that to tease him...hoped that was the case, anyway. watching her eyes widen and dart, mouth twitch and purse in split-second time along with her thoughts is a fascinating thing, though. it used to be him much more fidgety before, didn't it? a long time ago.

he startles at her almost-yelped yeah!, mouth twitching. he laughs in a nervous echo of hers, but it tapers off quickly, unable to sustain when his attention is fixed on something else. it's on trying to visualize it – kissing. not something he's done much of, and not the way he's proposed to now.

belatedly:] I think so, too. [...wait.] I mean, liking that... [ahem.

"that" being a series of hesitations – hands on shoulders or wrists? stand still and lean or step forward?

shoulders and lean wind up being the answers, and some more nervous laughter peppered into a breathy apology in bumping her nose at first. the kiss is brief, chaste, and cut short by a little jolt of surprise, not expecting it to feel the way it does.

like the way it felt hearing beautiful music for the first time, or seeing stars between the leaves of the unknown jungle in his past. like the feeling of her magic, uncorrupted warmth and joy.

like that, but...not. he rocks back on his heels, bringing a hand to his mouth, nearly leaning too far and falling right over.]
